Old Chicago Shopping Center & Amusement Park, Bolingbrook Illinois

Food has always been a big part of amusement parks and it has always been a big part of shopping malls.  So it is no surprise that Old Chicago with its focus on all around entertainment had plenty to thrill guests taste buds.

Situated right at the entrance to Old Chicago The Columbian House was the top tier restaurant at Old Chicago.  With dining in an 1990's atmosphere guests to The Columbian House were treated to fine food, cocktails, breakfast, lunch, dinner and even late snacks.

The Old Chicago Beer Garden was the restaurant I remember visiting the most.  Remembering back they had German food, burgers, sandwiches, and pretty good pizza.  This was my favorite place to eat at Old Chicago as the restaurant sat over the Fairgrounds Mansion of Horrors and it looked out on the park.  Whenever we visited I always angled for a window seat so I could look out and watch the coasters and rides.  The pizza was excellent and we always got a table full of pizzas when we'd visit here for our end of the season t-ball celebration dinners.

The nights the Old Chicago Beer Garden brought in live music were always memorable.   It's hard to have a bad time with live polka music, coasters speeding by off in the distance, and good food to eat.

Even through all of these years I still remember Hans as he would greet us whenever we visited which was quite often.  The pizza was so good at the Old Chicago Beer Garden it'd be rare if we didn't make a stop by for some every couple of weeks.

This ad would be so illegal today due to discrimination but the 1970's were certainly a different world than today.  Arby's had several locations inside of Old Chicago.
