Press Releases are used to give accurate background information to the
media so they can help tell the story about whatever the press release
is about. This press release is all about the facts and figures
that make up the first of its kind combination of retail, theming, and a
theme park.
There are a lot in here to help reporters give the "who, what, where,
when, and why" that goes into a good story. It is interesting
looking back seeing how much entertainment that Old Chicago had on
opening but how admission to the park was just $4.50. While that
may seem in 2023 insanely inexpensive if adjusted for inflation
admission would cost $25 now. Comparing to many parks that charge
$40+ for a single day admission that isn't bad at all.
This page mentions that Old Chicago had a ticket book for rides.
That didn't last long and the park went to pay one price system shortly
after opening.
Hour wise it would be awesome having a park that stays open until
midnight every Friday and Saturday. The only time that happens any
more is for Halloween events at chains like Six Flags or Cedar Fair.
The parking lot had 6,910 spaces that were out front of the mall as well
as on the north and south side of the building. When Old Chicago
opened they had a free tram to bring guests around to Old Chicago's main
entrance.
