Ye Olde Chicago Tobacco Company actually had a gentleman who rolled
custom cigars in store if you wanted one.
The Meenie Weenie is a great name for a hot dog shop. Plus you
have to love a $.50 hot dog on a stick.
The weirdest tag line from all of these Old Chicago ads has to be for
the Old Chicago Trading Company that has "Arts and Crafts from Planet
Earth". My question is where else would they be getting arts and
crafts from?
Again looking back at the price of things back then at Wendy's a quarter
pound burger was just $0.69. You could get three albums in
cassette or 8 track form from Camelot Music for $3.69.
Old Chicago's hours were 11 am to 9 pm daily for the shopping center and
then the amusement park would be open from 1-10 pm weekdays and then
until midnight on the weekend.
No matter what Old Chicago was really trying to offer pretty much
everything to everyone with stores, restaurants, live acts, and a six
acre amusement center all under a roof.
