...and a world class one of a kind record holding wooden
coaster.
If you are going to shoehorn an amazing wooden coaster into a small
plot of land the guys at The Gravity Group certainly are the ones
you want to call with their past design work on coasters at
Indiana Beach, the
Kemah Boardwalk and
Quassy
Amusement Park for a few examples.
After a couple of years of planning The Donhauser's and The Gravity
Group stunned the coaster world during the 2014 IAAPA trade show by
announcing the worlds first wooden shuttle coaster: The
Switchback.
Now for those of you who are not coaster enthusiasts a "shuttle
coaster" is one that goes forwards and reverse on the same stretch
of track "shuttling" back and forth.
Shuttle coasters up until Switchback have been steel coasters but
due to ZDT's extremely small size it made sense to have the coaster
use the same stretch of track in order to double the thrills while
keeping the ride and the budget under control.
