Worlds of Fun's real and fictional mascots Nelly Bly and Phileas Fogg
were on hand to give awards out to those who raised the most for Give
Kids The World. I say real and fictional because Phileas Fogg was
the fictional character from Jules Verne's "Around The World in 80
Days". Nellie Bly was a real and quite a groundbreaking
investigative journalist who took Phileas fictional journey for the New
York World newspaper and made it around the world in 72 days.
Here is Bond in his Coasting For Kids 2014 shirt in front of Prowler.
The shirt has an awesome logo on the back. In fact it is the same
logo that you see on the top of this page.
Last year Bond, John Byrne (known as Johnny.Ink on the -G Forums), his
son Draven and myself raised over $1,600 in the name of my nephew Louie
and this site. As a result Negative-G is one of the official
partners of Coasting For Kids. This year we were joined by Michael
Morris and the five of us raised over $2,000 and we plan on raising even
more for 2015.
Prowler is a ride that never dissappoints.
The only thing that I don't like about Prowler is that it is so damn
hard to photograph as it goes out and away from the park with very
little to see. I did have some fun with a new telephoto lens
shooting Prowler's "Bam Bam Bam" return run.
Why all the "bam's" you ask? There are three little hills taken at
high speed that eject you up into the restraints and then slam you back
down with a "bam". As you can see from the looks on everyone's
faces a whole lot of "bam" is a very good thing.
