The Japan Pavilion in the World Showcase at Walt Disney World - Epcot, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Here's one last shot of Bond and Grandma in Japan before we head out to take on the rest of the World Showcase.

The American Pavilion at Walt Disney World - Epcot, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

A funnel cake is a nice American snack to serve in the American Pavilion.  The Funnel Cake was so good a flock of gulls wanted to have a share of it.  The damn rats with wings are quite brazen and I had to stand guard over the two of them while they ate it to deter the aerial assault from the gulls.

The Italy Pavilion in the World Showcase at Walt Disney World - Epcot, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

The Italy Pavilion is gorgeous but it is kind of amusing because it really messes with my Mom.  You see the Italian Pavilion is a replica of the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy.  It's not an exact replica as it's a mirror image of the real plaza with the tower on the left side of the plaza instead of on the right.  My Mom and my Dad were stationed in Italy during my Dad's service in the Army and they spent a bunch of time in Venice and the mirror image plaza wasn't right to her..

Just like the real Venice the architecture of the Italy Pavilion is stunning.

Several of the World Showcase Pavilions including Italy were supposed to have a ride that was supposed to be part of some "Phase 2" development (Japan was to have had a Mount Fuji Coaster - Germany was to have had a boat ride down the Rhine) that has yet to happen at Epcot since it opened in 1982.  The ride was supposed to be a boat ride through some Roman Ruins.  While I love Epcot one of these years Disney with funding or not from the various countries or sponsors they need to bring something new to the World Showcase.

Oh looking at Epcot on Google Earth there is room for at least four more countries to be added so maybe someday they'll fill up the World Showcase.
