The World Showcase is built around a huge lagoon that is the location
of Epcot's "Illuminations Reflections of Earth" fireworks, music, laser
and visual spectacular.
This huge LED covered globe is the centerpiece of the show and mid afternoon
it heads out into World Showcase Lagoon to get in position for the show
later that night that takes place most nights.
A big part of Illuminations is it's seven hundred and forty different fireworks
that explode over the lagoon. Most of them are launched from barges
like this one. Unlike most of the fireworks that are launched via
mortars with black powder charges Disney invented an compressed air launch
system with timing chips in each shell to make sure they explode at the
precise moment and precise height for the highly choreographed show.
Illuminations is an amazing show and keep clicking through this trip report
as I have several photos from it for you.
Here's Bond getting his groove on with some of the bongos in The Outpost.
One of the many World Showcase Pavilions that were supposed to have been
added were one from an Equatorial African country like Congo or Kenya.
Unfortunately since Disney has been unable to acquire sponsorship of that
pavilion the Outpost, which is mostly a big refreshment stand has taken
its place.
