The story behind the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror starts at the Hollywood Tower Hotel in 1939.



Once the place to stay during Hollywood's Golden Age the Hollywood Tower Hotel had a fateful night on Halloween 1939.  Instead of the sunny warm weather that greeted us on our visit a severe thunderstorm formed over the hotel.



As an elevator filled with guests ascended to their rooms on the thirteenth floor lightening struck the hotel sending not just the guests but an entire wing of the hotel into another dimension.



The Hollywood Tower Hotel closed immediately after and quickly became just a faded and broken memory of the Hollywood that once was.
