If you ask me every amusement park needs a carousel, especially a
classic hand carved wooden carousel like the one at Valleyfair.
Valleyfair's carousel comes from the now defunct Excelsior Park where it
ran from 1924 until that park closed sometime in the early 1970's.
It was built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company and has some fantastic
carvings on it including these cherubs.
One thing about this carousel that I had never seen before and found interesting
was it's rotating roof. The roof directly above the carousel is attached
to it and rotates with the ride.
Valleyfair has attached flags to the rotating part of the carousel's roof
that adds a nice feel to the area.
