Greg and I got the, well to put it nicely excrement scared out of
us on our first Steel Venom ride as we were sitting in the back seat talking
when BOOM we were launched totally unexpectedly taking both of us by surprise.
Keith, who was watching from the sidelines said he wished he had a camcorder
and our expressions were priceless. You see in the back of Steel Venom
we couldn't hear the launch siren so it caught us by surprise giving us
one fantastic ride.
Like most impulse coasters Steel Venom has a spiral going up the first spike
which is fun in the front seat but really does little in the back.
Where the ride does have a bite is on the back spike where it has another
set of linear synchronous motors that instead of launching you holds you
in place so the only thing keeping you from plummeting to the ground below
are your restraints. When the train is finally released the drop from
the back is a heck of a rush.
Since I mentioned Keith a few photos back here he is. One of the great
things about being a coaster enthusiast is the fact that you get to meet
and become friends with wonderful people from all different walks of life
that you wouldn't normally meet and Keith is one of those.
