Avalanche was built by S&S Power Sports during their brief foray into
building wood coasters. After Custom Coasters International folded
it's head Denise Dinn headed west to work for S&S. She was with
them for a few years heading up their wood coaster division and from what
I hear Avalanche was their best coaster before she moved on and S&S
got out of that business.
Avalanche takes you around Timber Falls twice. S&S went with three
cars for Avalanche's train in order to lessen maintenance which can be a
large cost for a small park like Timber Falls and also to make it so the
difference in forces between the front and back of the train are lessened.
Don't worry I didn't let Greg get all of the rides as I took more than a
few laps myself including several "Zen rides".
It was kind of funny when we showed up at Timber Falls and asked for the
all day pass we were notified that the park just had a couple of hours to
go until they closed and that we'd not be worth it. Well after something
like thirty laps on Avalanche I think we got our moneys worth.
