The Boss is Six Flags St. Louis' problem child. It is
very picky about how it runs as it can go from smooth to rough in a
few weeks and it is temperamental where it comes to cold when
everything else is up and running.
Maybe the Boss needs an epic spanking and "attitude adjustment" as
it is the "emo" coaster at the park.
I was told a while ago that The Boss was down about 40% of Six Flags
St. Louis' operating season due to temperatures as it will valley
somewhere on course if it is not warm enough. With that in
mind if I were a betting man I would certainly put my money on this
troublesome coaster getting a steel makeover sometime in the future.
If those behind such a move want to talk Bond and I have some
interesting ideas for what to do. Start out with an inverting
first drop, turning the hill up into the mid course into a half
vertical loop with a roll into the brakes, a zero gravity stall
replacing one of the airtime hills and end it all with a helix
turned on it's side at sixty degrees to give it a wicked finale.
Heading over to take Mr. Freeze for a blast I noticed that a lot of
the trees and shrubbery between Thunder River and the coaster had
been removed in the off season.
It was the end of the day by the time we headed to Freeze.
Unfortunately as we were next in line something happened and the
ride went down when the train was back in the station. For
whatever reason the transfer table was stuck in the middle and the
ride had to be evacuated. As having an engineering mind I
loved how the engineers at Premiere Rides made it so all they needed
to do to evacuate the ride stuck in that position was to lock the
ride out, unhook the control panel, hang it on the wall and take the
railing out making it so so riders were able to walk right off.
As the park was about ten minutes from closing the likelihood that
it was down for the count was high so we headed out of the park for
an evening of hanging out before coming back for day two.
Greg was ready to roll for day #2.
