On the way to The Boss both Bond and Travis got sucked into
the Highland Fling.
While I can't ride "Enterprise" (named after the Starship Enterprise
of Star Trek fame) type rides like this one as the son of an
engineer I love the simplicity and durability of the design.
Anton Schwarzkopf with his flat rids and coasters engineered them to
last as this one has since arriving at Six Flags St. Louis in 1977.
In addition to the cool engineering part of it artistically the
Highland Fling is a kinetic work of art.
You can take out the people from the equation and run it empty and
it is still something that makes you stop and watch.
Here is Bond on the Highland Fling as it spins down after inverting
him a few dozen times.
