The Grand Carousel looks great al lit up at night. Hopefully
one of these years Six Flags will give the park enough capital to restore
this classic and move it down in front of The Palace Theater like the Park
President Dave Roemer wants to do.
Most coasters don't get better with age but Mr. Freeze bucks the trend.
First off it opened in 1998 a year late due to technical problems.
Then when it finally opened the ride beat you up with over the shoulder
restraint's that mad the ride unbearable. In 2002 Six Flags and Premiere
Rides who designed it changes the restraints to lap bars and it went from
being one of the worst rides to being one of the best. Then in 2012
the trains were turned around where you and launched out of the station
in reverse making an even better ride. I can't see much they can do
to make it better but I am still thrilled as to how much this ride has improved.
If you don't want to be scared by all of the scare actors roaming the park
then a "No Boo For You Necklace" is for you. I have no idea who came
up with this concept but it is genius. Six Flags give whoever came
up with this, and pricing it at an affordable $5 a raise. I like this
idea because it makes Fright Fest accessible for those who don't want to
be scared and it is not an insane upcharge. Heck I was tempted to
buy one on principle and for a nice inexpensive souvenir.
Something that I really liked about the Halloween Haunt at Worlds of Fun
(IMHO the best Halloween amusement park event in the Midwest) is that they
have really well staffed and themed "scare zones" throughout the park.
In years past there were always a few sparsely themed and staffed scare
zones at Six Flags St. Louis but this year they took it up more than a few
notches. Color me pleased.
