Here's another of the "
Then & Now" signs celebrating
Six Flags St. Louis' 40th Anniversary. The queue area for Pandemonium
(formerly Tony Hawk's Big Spin) used to be the seating area for the old
dive show/dolphin show arena.
They should have just changed the name of Tony Hawk's Big Spin to Big Spin
but I don't mind the name Pandemonium as it's a good name. What's
annoying as hell is the whole "Kraft Twists" advertising built
into the ride's queue artwork. What ever happened to having a sign
by the ride, maybe an ad in line and on the map saying "Pandemonium
sponsored by Kraft Twists"? I didn't mind that sort of adverting
but this is a bit much and guess what it's going to cost to make new banners
and removing all of the signage all over the building once Kraft Twists
stops paying however much they do per year. I just loathe advertising
especially after working in that field for well over a decade so I'm kind
of bitter about any of it, even on a coaster.
Pay no attention to this car. No it does not look like a skate board
and those decorative circles on the side are not supposed to represent wheels.
Here's a new idea for Six Flags corporate just make a cool ride and don't
call it after someone or some product. Just give it a cool name and
maybe some theming and be done with it.
Here's CoasterJedi and her husband John having fun on Pandemonium.
This is a yearly thing for me so I'll keep it quick. I want the Grand
Carousel to get some love as the paint is either wearing thin, chipping
or completely gone from the horses but again no work has been done on these
this year.
On the way out there's a nice map of the park as it was forty years ago.
Yes the new names for rides annoy me and yes I want the carousel restored
but still I always have a great time at Six Flags St. Louis. It's
not the biggest park in the chain and yes they seem to be a bit further
down the trough when new rides are passed out but what they have is really
good, the lines are rarely long and normally everyone gets as many rides
as they want. They create smiles and good times and that's what all
of us go there for.
That's why I keep coming back again and again.
