Tony Hawk's Big Spin Media Day
April 20, 2007
Page Twelve
I have to say that I was extremely impressed with Tony Hawk's Big
Spin. I had expected to grab three or four rides before calling it
a day but we had so much fun we ended up getting well over twenty laps before
it was time to hit the road. Tony Hawk's Big Spin doesn't have the "wow"
factor of some record breaking ride but it sure makes up for it with fun
which is what coasters are all about. Fun riding and fun with friends
and family.
From the looks of it Tony Hawk's Big Spin had its first offering to the
coaster gods during the media day as someone's hat ended up in the final
helix.
Here's where you go to see or purchase your on ride video. We chatted
with the guys setting it up for a little bit. The system was pretty
nice with a wireless system installed in each car and in addition to the
video of you it adds in off ride footage so you can see not just yourself
but the ride in action as well. What I'd like to see is a system where
you go to a park and pay whatever for the service then pick up a DVD when
you leave of all of your rides, not just one.
With the parks opening just a day away things were moving all over the park
including the Screaming Eagle which was testing. Greg and I offered
to be test dummies but unfortunately our request was denied.
Like I said work was going on everywhere including fresh coats of paint
in preparation for opening day.
Hey, we're not in New Orleans! We saw this on our way out to the car.
Six Flags St. Louis received a bunch of odds and ends like signage and park
benches to use from Six Flags New Orleans after it was pretty much destroyed
by Hurricane Katrina.
