Wanting to bring some life back into the massive ride Six Flags
announced in 2014 that Colossus was going to be taking its last ride and
that the rides future was going to be pretty twisted.
After a years worth of transformation by Rocky Mountain Construction,
that included removing all of the track, a small accidental fire on the
lift hill and turning it into a steel coaster Colossus was reborn as
Twisted Colossus.
With a steampunk theme and steel track the twin tracks of Colossus were
no more.
While Twisted Colossus actually races/duels (including looping over each
other) it is a single tracked coaster.
What happens is after completing one circuit racing your train heads
back to Twisted Colossus' one hundred and twenty-one foot tall lift hill
where it starts heading on up. If the next train is dispatched in
time both trains will meet up at the top of the lift hill before
starting the circuit again.
