Be
neath Tatsu's pretzel loop sits one of the simplest but greatest
rides at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
The Hepful Honda Express; formerly known as the Orient Express and
Funicular, is a cable car that takes you simply up to the top of
Samurai Summit and back down again. When you have just walked
11-15 miles (my average during my time at Magic Mountain) this lets you
sit down and ride in comfort instead of walking up or down the hill.
After a day of walking you two will say "God bless this ride".
The Helpful Honda Express is a funicular; which is a cable car that has
two cars. Both are attached to the cable as a counterweight and
when one goes down the other one goes up. Both cars are painted up
with slogans on the side. The slogan on this one reads "Wham Bam
Helpful Tram" which made me laugh.
With most of the park looking spotless it is really surprising that many
of the buildings up on Samurai Summit looked like they've seen some
seriously better days.
The Laughing Dragon Pizza Co looks like it has been abandoned for a
decade. Also the Sky Tower that also sits on the summit is also
closed. I thought the top of the mountain was really one of the
most naturally beautiful parts of the park. It'd be nice if Six
Flags did something with these buildings. Add a flat ride up there
(A S&S Swing would look wonderful up there) or add some sort of
restaurant as outside of the Ninja and Superman there is nothing at the
top.
