The American Eagle roller coaster at Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Illinois

What is so frustrating about The American Eagle is it only had one side running and it wasn't due to the low park attendance numbers on the day of my visit.  NONE of the red trains were even on the track.

Hopefully once the dust from the Six Flags/Cedar Fair merger settles the decision can be made to bring the American Eagle back to glory.  It needs the entire ride re-tracked to get rid of rough spots and to remove the insane shuffling through the barrel and the final helix.  The ride programming needs to be revised to mellow out the hard mid course brakes that are turned up enough to practically stop the train for three train operation on each side.  Since they haven't ran three trains on each side since the 1980's why not turn the brakes down.  Finally they need to update the ride programming so when both sides are running the ride WILL race because a racing coaster that doesn't race is like a carousel without horses.

While the Eagle needs some TLC Goliath always gives a great ride especially in my favorite seat, the back row.

Goliath has wicked positive and negative G's.  The rides pacing is relentless.

On top of all of that you get to hang there upside down for a nice stretch.  Goliath's zero G stall is by far my favorite part of the ride.
