The Sprocket Rocket roller coaster at Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Illinois

It is pretty easy to forget that there is a fun little Vekoma Roller-skater coaster called the Sprocket Rockets hidden back in the very neglected Camp Cartoon section of the park.  There used to be a decent number of rides geared towards children back in here back when it opened as Camp Cartoon Network back in 1998 but the ride count is down to three.  This corner of the park is dead anymore even when the park has crowds.  Maybe they should move this coaster and the remaining rides elsewhere in the park and use this land for something else.

The Arrow Dynamics designed Loggers Run Log Flume and Yankee Clipper Hydro-Flume attractions that opened with the park in 1976 are a couple if the best of their kind.  The rides are quite long and able to handle large crowds which make them a must on a nice hot July day.

With the re-theming of the area around Batman to the DC Universe Yankee Clipper is now the Aquaman Splashdown.  Where this ride differs from the intertwined Loggers Run is that instead of splashing down like a log flume the hydro flume skips across the surface at the bottom of the drop making for a thrilling and wet finale.

The Flash Vertical velocity is also a favorite of mine at Six Flags Great America.

Getting launched forwards and in reverse until the ride reaches seventy miles an hour before coasting to a stop at the top of the rides two spikes before letting gravity take over pulling you back earthward is so much fun.
