There is a really quick heart line roll that is a lot of fun....
...before Maxx Force rolls you upside down and gives you half a second
of hang time before you plunge headfirst into the brakes. About
the only thing that I could really complain about Maxx Force is that the
ride is over far too soon.
The Hometown Fun Machine really is one of my favorite Scrambler
installations. It is kind of hidden at Six Flags Great America as
it is tucked into the space between the Six Flags Great America Scenic
Railway and The Whizzer. Being surrounded by lots of trees and
having the Whizzer tower overhead just makes the ride perfect. Of
course it is a difficult ride to get as it only seems to operate when
the park is crowded which on the day before Independence Day, it
certainly wasn't.
Even though the crowds were light it was really pretty surprising at how
many rides, shops, and restaurants were closed down. Having been a
visitor since 1980 this is a first time I have seen so many places
shuttered or non operational.
The weather was perfect. In reality with my visit being the day
before Independence Day I expected that more people would take a super
long holiday weekend and make a run to Six Flags like I had but I was
wrong. Maybe the lack of crowds is because you also have events
like the Taste of Chicago and various other events over Independence Day
that people were busy elsewhere. Oh well my win.
