After our ERT on Fire in the Hole we headed off for an exclusive lunch
at the Mine Restaurant (which was a treat in itself) before everyone
headed to see a show, hit the stores, or snag as many rides as possible
enjoying the unseasonably warm day. As for myself, I wanted to
take a look at some of the land clearing that I've been hearing about
all year long. When heading to Wildfire I popped my camera over
the new fence to grab a look at what's on the other side.
As you can see here the space between Wildfire and Powder Keg has been
cleared out with quite a bit of work put into the American Plunge Log
Flume.
Taking a look at Wildfire's lift hill you can see some land cleared
past the lift and...
...several footers being built. In fact when riding Wildfire you
get a wonderful view of footers that sure look like what you would need
for a helix if you were building a coaster.
Looking through some of the peep holes along the construction fence you
get a nice view of some of the work that has been done on the American
Plunge log flume. As you can see here the bit before the American
Plunge's lift has had the concrete replaced as well as the framing for a
new roof over that stretch. I'm kind of curious if there will be
some refreshed theming for this stretch of the log flume.
Being the low point of the American Plunge there is a concrete lined
retention pool for the water that is needed for that ride. The
really important thing are the footers that go across the retention
pool. As there are strings of footers across this plot of land
between Powder Keg and Wildfire that extend down the hillside I'm going
to go out on a limb and predict that Silver Dollar City is adding some
kind of a steel coaster for 2027.
