Like the original Fire in the Hole this ride is a dark
ride/rollercoaster combination with three dips where the ride is
coasting under the power of gravity.
There's the drop for the burning bridge, the dip right before the
finale, and then this drop into the lake for the splashdown ending.
The splashdown finale adds a bit of thrill as riders will get splashed
and it is a wonderful brake that slows down the train before
sending it into the station. There are a few powered wheels there
just in case the train doesn't have enough speed to get to the station.
After the splashdown is a switch track that can route the rides five
trains trains into Fire in the Hole's maintenance area.
After checking out the finale we headed up into the structure of Fire in
the Hole. With all of the concrete and steel that goes into this
ride it is no surprise that rebuilding this ride is going to be Silver
Dollar City's largest investment ever at a cost of $30 million.
Here is a look down into Fire in the Hole's maintenance area.
