There are three levels of track inside Fire in the Hole. This
photo is from the second level. The ride slowly works its way up
to the top of the building while telling the story of the town being set
alight and the heroic efforts of the fire department to battle the
flames.
Looking at this track it is really interesting thinking of how Silver
Dollar City when they built Fire in the Hole back in 1972 were way ahead
of the times. Back then Silver Dollar City took steel I beam and
bent, cut, and formed it into the track for Fire in the Hole. Fast
forward all of these years and now Rocky Mountain is using their steel
"I Box Track" that is very much like the I beams that Siler Dollar City
used back in the day.
The original Fire in the Hole has eight scenes that the coaster takes
you through as it tells the story of the razing of Marmaros. This
ride will have fifteen, including one in this space that is open.
Silver Dollar City are keeping the storytelling part of Fire in the Hole
in house with scenes being created by park staff.
The opening in the wall will be closed up before construction is
finished. It's open now to facilitate large items to be able to be
lifted into the building.
The engineer in me fully approves of Rocky Mountain Constructions
detailed part number for each piece of track. You have the arrow
with the direction of travel, the side "L", the track piece, not sure
what "AB" stands for but my guess is "FH" stands for Fire in the Hole.
Here is a bit of the track on the third level.
