Fire in the Hole's queue starts inside but will head outside where some
of the existing fire equipment from the current Fire in the Hole will
help add to the theming of the ride.
For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to visit Silver Dollar
City or experience the original Fire in the Hole it is an indoor coaster
that was built by the park in 1972. They made the track, train,
and theming all by themselves. Fire in the Hole took riders
through the real town of Marmaros that sat downhill from the current
Silver Dollar City. During the ride a gang of bandits named the "Baldknobbers"
raids the town and sets it on fire culminating with a bridge collapse
while you are crossing it as well as a final plunge into a lake that
slows the train before pulling back into the station.
The original Fire in the Hole has made a reputation for itself as a
ride that the entire family can enjoy together and has become over the
last fifty-one years an integral part of the Silver Dollar City
experience. With that in mind the decision to build a new
version of the ride was an easy one.
This is the new Fire in the Hole's station. Guests will board from
this side and then cross and go over the stairs to exit.
Here is a view of the station from the rides break run.
The new Fire in the Hole isn't going to be built in house as Silver
Dollar City contracted with Rocky Mountain Construction to build the
ride part of the attraction.
