There's plenty to see and the hour long tour seems like a lot longer.
Yes there were coasters up on the surface but going underground and
getting to experience Marvel Cave was something that Bond and I wouldn't
miss.
While we walk down five hundred feet beneath the surface thankfully we don't
have to walk all the way back up. It's just a hundred feet up to the
incline railway that Hugo Hirschend built in order to make it easier to
tour the cave. What's interesting is the city above used to be free
and people used to pay for the cave. Now people pay to get into the
city and the cave is free.
Silver Dollar City has this nice incline railway that pulls you up out of
the cave into the sunlight. We had expected to come up and find thunderstorms
that were predicted for the afternoon but we found a nice sunny and more
importantly warm day.
As soon as the temperature finally climbed above the forty degree mark both
Powder Keg and Wildfire started testing. Bond and I had a blast kicking
off our coaster season on Fire in the Hole and Thunderation but both of
us were really itching to give Silver Dollar City's big boys a few rides.
