Kicking off our f
inal full day in California the four of us hopped
in the car and headed south to San Diego to tackle Belmont Park and
SeaWorld San Diego.
SeaWorld San Diego is the original SeaWorld park. The idea for SeaWorld
began with a gentleman named George Millay and his Hawaiian themed
restaurant called "The Reef". That restaurant was heavily themed and an
immediate success. One success breeds another and soon George started
thinking about a restaurant that was underwater where diners could watch
sea life swim by as they appropriately ate sea food.
The idea grew quickly into a heavily themed marine life park and SeaWorld was born.
Built on the shores of San Diego's Mission Bay, SeaWorld opened in 1964.
What I really like is that the entrance theming makes guests feel as if
they are beneath the waves. Once you are within a few feet of the
gates you are able to get up close and personal with the denizens of the
deep. SeaWorld is and has always been a hands on experience.
