It was really cool how wide the trough was for Grizzly River
Rapids.
A difference I have noticed between the old rapids rides and those built
in the early 1980's is there was more randomness in the ride with the
wide troughs and islands in the middle of the stream with separate
streams around them made each ride a truly different one.
I don't really understand why Opryland left all of this just sitting
here after demolishing the park. I understand that it was right
next to the hotel but if you're going to get rid of it you might as well
get rid of it.
The reason it was probably just left to act as a giant leaf magnet is
the cost of taking out all of that concrete and with it being a part of
the property that was not going to be developed, at least in the
foreseeable future it was spared the wrecking ball with the rest of the
park.
The Opryland Hotel did add a nice walkway around the back of the ride so
guests of the hotel can enjoy the scenery while out for a walk.
