The Chicago Log Race was one of two rides that was built by Arrow
Dynamics for the Fairgrounds. In the background to the left is the
lit top of Old Chicago's Rotor ride. The Rotor was a large
spinning bucket where riders were stuck to the walls by centrifugal
force as the floor lowered. That was certainly not a ride for the
weak willed or those with a week stomach.
What's an amusement park without a bunch of games of chance. This
postcard was taken after 1977 as that is when the suspended blocks of
sound deadening material was added in the hopes of making the sound
levels generated by the park more pleasant.
The Chicago Loop was Old Chicago's premiere attraction and the second
Arrow Dynamics designed ride for the Fairgrounds.
The Scrambler, Spider, Paratrooper, Carousel and the Mansion of Horrors;
which was a walk through haunted house with scare actors inside, are
shown on this postcard.
Here is a shot featuring Old Chicago's Yo-Yo with the Chicago Loop's
turn, Round Up, Trabant and the Windy City Screamer in the background.
The Windy City Screamer was a Schwarzkopf Enterprise ride.
Here is one final Old Chicago postcard.
I'm always keeping an eye out for new postcards of Old Chicago. If
you ever run into any please
email me about them as I'd love to add any to this collection.
