Old Chicago was really one of a kind and this press release is about
touting all of the ways what Old Chicago was truly unique.
The idea that the amusement park would drive the mall during times like
the summer when retail would be slow and retail would drive everything
when amusement parks were traditionally slow was a great idea in theory
but the history of Old Chicago shows that not entirely to be true.
Looking at these press releases it is interesting seeing how much went
into Old Chicago. The domed roof cost $2.5 million dollars.
The Chicago Loop roller coaster cost a million. Finally a million
in memorabilia such as the old gas street lights to add to Old Chicago's
theming. Converting a million from 1975 to 2023 that's $5.5
million.
