If you've got Columbus Day off school might as well head to Old Chicago
for some fun.
As I said Old Chicago was big on promotions. Riverview Day was on
Tuesdays and after paying $1.50 to get into the Fairgrounds all rides
were just ten cents. Friday was date night at Old Chicago where
one admission got you and your date in for all the rides you could take.
As someone who loves spending a long day riding over and over I'd be
thrilled with a 10 am until midnight schedule for my local amusement
park.
After Old Chicago changed management and reinvested in the park by
building the Fun Factory as well as adding a few rides Old Chicago
started advertising for a sneak preview of the new Old Chicago.
By 1980 admission to Old Chicago was normally $6.95 but with this coupon
it was just $4.95 to go and take rides like the Chicago Loop for a spin.
With as many coupons for discount tickets that Old Chicago had one has
to wonder if they kind of advertised themselves out of guests ever
paying full price.
That's all of the Old Chicago Newspaper Ads for now. Next we will
take a look at Old Chicago's TV ads.
