Entertainment was a big part of Old Chicago. The plan was to have
entertainers all around not only the Fairgrounds but the mall itself to
make each visit to Old Chicago a memorable one. This organ grinder
with his monkey was a familiar sight on the streets of Old Chicago.
Costumed characters were also a big part of the Old Chicago experience.
Here you have Little Orphan Anne, Mayor Charlie Baffle, a chipmunk, a
clown and the Old Chicago Cub entertaining guests at Old Chicago.
Old Chicago was big on nostalgia with the late 1800's theming and
Dixieland bands entertaining the crowds.
They even had a German band playing for guests at the entrance to the
Old Chicago Fairgrounds.
Down in the Old Chicago Fairgrounds no matter the direction you went
there was entertainment including concerts, a disco (it was the 1970's),
a magic show, silent comedy films, and more.
If you were lucky enough some of the characters joined you on some of
Old Chicago's rides.
Mayor Charlie Baffle was the main costumed character at Old Chicago.
Not only was he Old Chicago's mascot but he was also an illusionist
doing magic tricks for guests of all ages.
