Colossus is such smooth, fast, aggressive and forceful fun.
Plus like Lagoon's classic Roller Coaster it never had a line of
anything other than ten minutes and most of the time it was a walk on.
As a result just like with Roller Coaster Bond and I rode Colossus The
Fire Dragon over and over with it never letting us down. Cannibal
might be the big new thing but to us the heart and soul of Lagoon is a
wooden coaster from 1921 and Lagoon's 1983 addition are the heart and
soul of this park. Looking back those are the two rides I want
more of from our time at Lagoon.
Lagoon has a great sky ride that will take you from Colossus on the
south end of the Midway all the way to the north end where Cannibal
awaits. I was a bit worried at how low the Sky Ride starts out as
by the time it passes the flower bed and is above the midway you are low
enough to kick someone walking underneath. I guess if you get
kicked it is your fault because you should have been mindful of your
surroundings.
In addition to giving ones feet a break from pounding pavement the views
of the park, rides and mountains is a sight to behold.
Like other parks of its age Lagoon is and has always been a picnic park.
If you want to bring in a cooler filled with food for your families day
at the park and want to set up camp in one of Lagoon's picnic pavilions
that is totally cool.
This attitude of "bring your own if you want to" is something that
should be commonplace at amusement and theme parks across the country.
Letting guests save a little by bringing food in opens up the ability
for more guests to pay for a ticket and visit. Parks would sell
more tickets, have more people to play games, have more people to buy
souvenirs and yes even buy a little more food.
