Deep in the heart of Lagoon's Kiddieland is a very rare ride...a
kids coaster designed by the great Anton Schwarzkopf...Puff: The Little
Fire Dragon.
Puff: The Little Fire Dragon was added to Lagoon in 1985 and the "little
fire dragon" is a reference to Lagoon's big coaster at the time
Colossus: The Fire Dragon. It was built by Zierer but Anton
Schwarzkopf after his business went under (he was a
better designer than businessman) did the design work on this cute
little coaster for Zierer.
If you look at stuff like the wheel assemblies and the supports and
compare them to some of Anton's designs then it becomes really obvious
who designed Puff.
Puff has an oval layout with a nice little straightaway with a few
little hills. Lagoon sends you around three times during your ride
and it is a great little coaster for those "Dragon's" not big enough to
handle the "Fire Dragon".
One cannot exist on coasters and rides alone. Neither does a great
day at a park exist without some sort of tasty morsel to keep the
coaster enthusiast speed walking from ride to ride. Thankfully for
us Lagoon is one of the very few locations of a very tasty Canadian
treat: The Beavertail.
A Beavertail is a flat bread that is fried, then covered in cinnamon,
topped with a Nutella like substance and then covered with your choice
of additional toppings. Heavenly is an appropriate word to use to
describe the taste. Please Beavertails your neighbors to the south
desperately need more of your locations here.
