The Timber Mountain Log Ride
is another classic groundbreaking
ride at Knott's Berry Farm.
It was added to Knott's Berry Farm in 1969 and was the first use of
theming with a log flume.
The flume really is just a small part of the entire Timber Mountain Log
Ride.
Bud Hurlbut; the concessionaire that owned the Timber Mountain Log Ride,
wanted to tell a story with a trip through a mining community.
After his initial discussion with Ed Morgan and Carl Bacon of Arrow
Dynamics the ride that was conceived as a rollercoaster with track
submerged in water became a log flume.
The flume really is fantastic but mixing it with the mountain and
logging camp theming really makes this a world class ride that wouldn't
be out of place if it opened a few miles away at Disneyland.
