The thing is back in the early 1970's steel coasters were starting
to become the big new ride that every park wanted. The Racer,
which had a massive impact when the park opened, and garnered
international media attention reminded parks across the world that
wooden coasters could bring in the customers too.

The Racer is so much fun with hill after hill that sends you flying
skyward while speeding next to another train full of people.

You never know who is going to actually win the race but who cares
because the ride is such a blast. The next time you go to Kings
Island make sure to take a few laps on each side and you'll win some and
you'll loose some.

After f0ur and a half hours at Kings Island where I got three rides on
Orion, one ride on Windseeker, one ride on Backlot Stunt Coaster, two
rides on The Beast, two rides on Mystic Timbers, two rides on
Diamondback, two rides on The Bat, one ride on Delirium, two rides on
Banshee, two rides on Adventure Express, and two rides on The Racer it
was time to hop in the SUV and pretend like I was a truck driver on a
seriously long haul. Before hitting the road though I needed to
get a bite to eat and the Grain & Grill International Kitchen seemed
like a good place to go for a meal.

Lunch turned out to be some roas
ted Brussels sprouts, nan bread,
and some grilled shrimp. Not bad at all for park food.
Well one of these years I'll get to spend an entire day at Kings Island.
Still with 20 rides in four and a half hours I certainly got the most
out of my day. After the Six Flags Cedar Fair merger goes through
and season passes work at all of the parks it will be worlds easier to
take a trip to Ohio for a day or two at Kings Island. I look
forward to heading back.
