Last year on our visit to Kings Island Bond's coaster enthusiasm was still
in it's infancy so there were a few rides that he really wasn't ready to
ride just yet. So this year we had three coasters at Kings Island
for him to try out and add to his coaster count. The first one
we came to was Firehawk.
Here's Bond getting ready to ride his seventy-fourth coaster.
Good Lord this ride has the worst operations at Kings Island or any park
I've been to in years. First you wait in line about 50 meters away
from Firehawk's station. Then every 5-10 minutes a ride operator lets
one trainload of passengers through to a predetermined side of it's two
track loading station. Then you wait in the station for a couple of
minutes before getting to load. Once you're locked in the ride operators
stand around talking for a few more minutes and then dispatch the other
train. So you wait as it goes through the ride. Then finally
after it's in the station they finally get around to checking your restraints
and dispatch you.
Bond's Great Grandmother could have loaded the train, checked restraints
and dispatched this ride in a quarter of the time this crew did. It
was sad.
Firehawk isn't a horrible ride, but it's crew is. The loop is fun
as you can look across it and see the other side of the train.
Honestly the best part of the ride is it's swooping turns and wingovers
like this one that makes you feel like you're flying.
