While visiting Kentucky Kingdom I was lucky enough to run into Kentucky
Kingdom local, the one and only, Biff from the CoasterHeat
Podcast. If you're not
following him on X or listening
to his podcasts you are missing out.
Wind Chaser like Kentucky Kingdom has a storied history. Back in 1998 it
started its life as a dueling coaster by Custom Coasters International
called Twisted Sisters. The ride itself was ok with the handful of
moments the trains sped by each other creating the biggest thrills.
After the band Twisted Sister sued Six Flags the ride was renamed Twisted Twins.
When Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom closed, the Gerstlauer trains for the
ride were
shipped to Six Flags St. Louis as spare parts for The Boss.
With no trains and a ride that wasn't super thrilling Ed Heart contracted with
Rocky Mountain Construction to turn Twisted Twins into Storm Chaser.
Storm Chaser opened in 2016.
With the entire area re-themed into Discovery Meadow this year
Storm Chaser became Wind Chaser.
