At the bottom of Phantom's first drop there is this wonderful flat
stretch that lets riders just enjoy speed.

After that straight track is where Arrow's design moves from being just
another coaster into being a world class coaster.

As you head up into Phantom's second hill you are given a wonderful
moment to look around and just take in the view of the park and the
Monongahela River valley off to your right.

The Phantom's star element is the second drop that plunges you through
the Thunderbolt's structure and down the hillside towards the river.

This drop is really one of the best drops on the planet. If I had
to pick out one favorite element on any of Arrow's designs at the very
least this one would be in the top five.
The problem is after Steel Phantom's record breaking two hundred and
twenty-five foot drop into the ravine the ride was followed up with
Arrow's standard sized vertical loop, a boomerang, and a corkscrew that
were all taken at extremely high speed. The first half of Steel
Phantom was absolute perfection while the second half was full of high g
forces, Arrow's awkward transitions, and a ton of head banging against
the rides over the shoulder restraints. Everyone loved the first
half while Steel Phantom's violent second half left a lot to be desired.
