Towering over Lost Kennywood is the legendary Phantom's Revenge.
Phantom's Revenge began its life as a classic Arrow Dynamics designed
multi looping coaster.
In the late 1980's Harry Hennenger, the then president of Kennywood
wanted a steel coaster with a record breaking drop, but the park
couldn't quite afford one. One night the thought came to him that
the parks topography could be used to create one of the tallest coasters
in the world without having to pay for the record breaking height.
He headed out to the park and stood over by the Thunderbolt and realized
that the ravine that was used for that coaster could also be used for a
steel coaster to create a record breaking dive. With that
realization Steel Phantom was born.
Opening in 1991 Steel Phantom shattered records as the fastest coaster
and the one with the then longest drop at 225 feet.
Steel Phantom kicked everything off with a spiraling drop that takes you
down a hundred and sixty feet.
