Another long term quirky feature of Indiana Beach is the carp feeding
attraction. One of the signs that Morgan really didn't get Indiana
Beach was instead of continuing the tradition of feeding Lake Schafer's
carp they built a games building on the site. Thankfully Gene
Staples gets Indiana Beach and removed the games and brought the carp
feeding back.
Everyone was happy at the decision, carp included.
The Galaxi coaster at Indiana Beach was a staple of my visits all the
way back to my first visit in the late 1970's. After
forty-two years of thrilling riders Indiana Beach's Galaxi hit the end
of the rides life and was removed. Wanting to keep Indiana Beach
properly Indiana Beach, Gene Staples decided to return the Galaxi
experience to the park with another "Zyclon" model coaster that sits on
the same site as the Galaxi.
Even though it is the same model coaster it is technically a new coaster
credit to add to my list as I have not taken this exact one for a ride.
Sadly due to staffing and insanely light crowds they did not have the
Cyclone up and running for my visit. Oh well I'll just have to come back and
get it some other time.
The Schafer Queen paddle wheeler has been one of Indiana Beach's star
attractions for decades. One of these years I need to take it for
a cruise. My problem is I get tied up with the rides and coasters
and by the time I remember it is there it's normally too late to head
out onto the lake.
