The Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain at Indiana Beach, Monticello Indiana

The first coaster of the day was Indiana Beach's Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain.

Superstition Mountain was originally a mine themed ride with a powered car that went through and outside of a mountain shaped building.  In 2001 with the Superstition Mountain ride aging Indiana Beach contracted with Custom Coasters International to build a one of a kind wooden coaster built on, around and through the old ride.  In 2002 Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain opened up and the coaster enthusiast world immediately made an acronym out of the name.  LoCoSuMo rolls off the tongue better than Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain so the acronym stuck.

LoCoSuMo starts off with an elevator lift to the top of the mountain before sending its two car trains speeding around the rides extremely twisted track that is quite literally shoehorned inside of the mountain.

LoCoSuMo's trains feature forward and and backward facing seats which make for a thrilling ride as you are thrown, jostled, and whipped in each and every direction.  The bars and netting are there  because with the ride squeezed into the tight confines of the mountain the cars come close enough where someone could easily reach out and touch the scenery.  The bars and netting are there to keep your head and arms inside of the train.

The second half of LoCoSuMo sends the trains deep into the underground of Superstition Mountain where you will have run ins with trains, explosives, and insanely tight turns & drops.  This coaster sadly was the last coaster completed by Custom Coasters before that firm closed.  All was not lost when Custom Coasters closed their doors as firms like Great Coasters International, Gravity Group, Skyline Attractions and a few others sprung from CCI during its 11 year existance.
