American Triple Loop has been put together by the parks maintenance
staff which is why the ride isn't open yet after standing for several
years. Chatting with one of Indiana Beach's two maintenance guys
he said they work on it when they can while keeping the rest of the park
up and running. Hopefully as they now have one of the coasters
trains on the tracks and a second one being worked on it'll be up and
running for 2024.
Speaking of the trains what brought this ride, and the rest of Aztlan
Parque Urbano to close their doors was an accident. In 2019 due to a severe
lack of maintenance, and the park turning the block brakes on the ride off the rear
car of one of the trains sheared off causing injuries and deaths.
The investigation that followed found the park was at fault and it
closed as a result. Thankfully Indiana Beach is not using the
original trains. Earlier this year the West Edmonton Mall
announced that the legendary Mindbender; which is copy of this coaster,
was coming to the end of that rides life. Indiana Beach purchased
the trains from Mindbender and are bringing them online for the All
American Triple Loop.
Here is a nerd shot of the wheels for all of you coaster nerds out
there.
When Gene Staples purchased Quimera from Aztlan Parque Urbano it wasn't
the only Schwarzkopf coaster in the park. Cascabel was the parks
Schwarzkopf shuttle loop that began its life as Laser Loop at
Pittsburgh's Kennywood. Gene purchased that coaster as well and had it
trucked up to Indiana. The trains from Cascabel are
sitting out behind Tig'rr.
Here's Cascabel's flywheel launch motor. The track for this
shuttle loop ended up getting sent to one of Gene's other parks, the old
Martin's Fantasy Island in Niagara Falls, New York where it is supposed
be added sometime. Despite the word that this coaster will be
reborn in New York my hopes are that the rumor I heard the other week
that it is going to be installed behind All American Triple Loop ring
true. My hopes are that it gets named Tidal Wave" after the old
Schwarzkopf shuttle loop that was at
Six Flags Great America.
