These "Hillbilly Showers" around the park were our saviors. Being
July and in Oklahoma it was hot enough for us. You need to cool off
whenever you can and getting a nice cold shower really helped out
and made the day bearable.
Just inside this condemned building there used to be a coaster.
This used to be the Nightmare Mine which was an indoor Galaxi style coaster.
It originally was outside and known as the Orange Blossom Special and in
1989 Frontier City moved it indoors with the idea that darkness would make
it a more popular and more of a thrilling ride. The problem is with
an extremely low capacity and the rides age in 2003 it was closed down.
Most of the ride has been moved out of the building but you can still see
the little bit of the ride that ventured outside.
Water rides are a must in the hot Oklahoma summers and the Mystery River
Log Flume along with the Renegade Rapids and Wild West Water Works play
area take care of cooling people off at Frontier City.
You can see the Mystery River Log Flume's big drop as well as the building
for the Nightmare Mine in the background in this shot.
