The Mystery Mine Rollercoaster at Dollywood Theme Park, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Our next stop was deep underground in Timber Canyon's other big attraction: Mystery Mine.

Mystery Mine is a heavily themed Gerstlauer built Eurofighter coaster that was designed by legendary coaster designer Werner Stengel.

Mystery Mine's mine carts spend half of the ride inside taking you through a heavily themed and completely cursed mine.

After a few run ins deep inside the mine with mining equipment and spectral crows Mystery Mine climbs the first of two vertical lifts where the coaster emerges into the daylight to traverse a rather rickety looking trestle.

In 2021 Dollywood completely reconfigured the turnaround part of the trestle removing the horseshoe turn from Mystery Mine's layout.  This was due to roughness and a bit of head banging for riders.   With such a complete change in layout my question is should I count Mystery Mine 2.0 as a new coaster?  This is a little more than a re-profiling where the angle of a hill is changed a little bit.  As an actual section of the track was removed and replaced with a completely different section I'm more inclined to count it as a new coaster credit.
