The Mystery Mine Rollercoaster at Dollywood Theme Park, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

After heading deep into the mine one again Mystery Mine sends you straight up on another vertical lift that takes you up another eighty five feet to what is one of the best coaster finales.

At the top of the lift you find that your mine car is in a room full of explosives that are about to blow.  With an errant strike of a match and a fuse lit things get literally explosive with flames shooting all around you before Mystery Mine sends you beyond straight down and then up into a one-two punch of a heart line roll that is followed up...

...by a dive loop that ends with a pop of air as you come speeding into the brakes.  With the explosion rapidly followed up by the roll, loop, and airtime many guests are breathless as Mystery Mine comes into the station.  Mystery Mine was the first Gerstlauer Eurofighter in North America when it opened in 2007 and it has been the best of them by far.

Across from Mystery Mine is the entrance to Dollywood's newest themed section Wilderness Grove.  Being nestled in the Smoky Mountains Dollywood has always had to get creative with space and for Wildwood Grove they had to haul away some three hundred thousand cubic yards of dirt and rock to create Wilderness Grove.  To do the math your average dump truck holds about twenty cubic yards which means it took fifteen thousand dump trucks worth of dirt and rock to haul away.  Adding Wilderness Grove to Dollywood was not your average everyday theme park project.

When Wilderness Grove opened in 2019 the star of the area was Dragonflyer.
