By the time you reach this twisted negative-g filled ending your
body will have been slammed down, ejected upward and thrown to the left
and whipped to the right.
It is a truly brutal ride and that is why both Bond and I were all grins
by the time it was through with us. I really like these action
shots as Lightning Rod is barreling down the side of the hill because of
all of the multitude of expressions. You have terror, joy,
rebellion, astonishment and a bunch of other expressions coming out in
each riders face.
Part of the reason that amusement parks and especially coasters are so
needed is that we all need from time to time some sort of cathartic
emotional release in order to remain healthy human beings. Some
people go to movies for it, others get into sports or you can pull down
that lap bar and give yourself over to a ride that will push you to the
limits of what a human body can endure to get the adrenaline pumping and
remind you how awesome it is to be alive.
Lightning Rod certainly fills that need.
Lightning Rod doesn't quit after violently throwing your body against
the lap bar over and over as it heads down the hill.
There is still this wickedly spiraling turn before the drop to the brake
run to go as if you have not been slammed into the side of the car
enough.
