The Dollywood Express dates back to the parks beginnings as a roadside tourist destination known as Rebel Railroad.  It was later purchased by Hirschend Family Entertainment who like their Silver Dollar City attraction added old buildings, craft stores and more before bringing Dolly Parton into the fold as a partner to turn it into a full grown theme park.

A train ride into the mountains may not be high on the thrill list of things to do but you still need to work a little peace, calm and relaxation into ones leisure time.

This is a thing of beauty.  Can you say "Caramel Popcorn Milkshake".  Now just imagine what that would taste like and now you will find yourself with the cravings to go to Dollywood to get one.

We couldn't finish out our couple of days at Dollywood without heading back on down to Lightning Rod to camp out on it.

As much as it was up and running during these two days we were both extremely lucky to have gotten in as many rides as we did.  I think by the end of our stay we ended up with thirty laps on it which is due to low attendance, two train operations for most of the time and that the coaster gods were smiling on us and it didn't end up with an extended down time.  I hope whatever the issue is that is keeping it from being 100% gets taken care of because all of you reading this need to go and get a ride on it.
