Dollywood by daylight is wonderful but after the sun goes down it
becomes another world.
The park cleared out and it was lit up and we had it all to ourselves.
The only thing you could hear was the sound of water cascading down the
hillside.
There were a few rumbles and screams breaking the darkness so Bond and I
went on down to Lightning Rod to add a few screams to the night.
It was an amazing couple of days finally getting to Dollywood with my
mother. I like visiting parks with her because I hear about how
the way things were when she was a kid whose highlight of the summer was
visiting Chicago's Riverview Park and then I see the amazement in her
face at how far things have changed.
The look of amazement on her face when she saw Lightning Rod rocket up
the lift hill is something that I will remember always because I
am certain that that was the same expression on her face when she walked
through the gates into Riverview to ride The Pippin, Shoot The Chutes,
the Parachute Drop and the legendary Bobs. A little amazement is
what we all need because it keeps the soul young.
