Moving onto the next coaster on Cedar Point's lineup is Rougarou:
The coaster formerly known as Mantis.
Mantis opened in 1995 as a standup coaster designed by Bolliger &
Mabillard. Riders rode standing up until the end of the 2014
season when the park removed the old trains and added floorless sit down
trains for the start of the 2015 season.
The big question on Mantis/Rougarou is with the changes made to
the ride should I count it as a new credit for my coaster count?
The track hasn't changed as it still has the same layout but is
switching from a standing up ride experience to an experience where you
sit down and your feet dangle over the track enough to constitute a new
credit?
It is easy to see the new credit/not a new credit sides of the argument
but I think I'm going to go and count this as a new one for me as the
ride experiences are just enough dissimilar to make this seem new to me.
The change from standing up to sitting on down was a positive one as the
sit down trains are worlds more comfortable especially after walking
around the enormity that is Cedar Point. After you have walked
three miles to loop a park who wants to stand up on a ride?
